In 1997, Southern Belle merged with Broughton Foods Company of Marietta Ohio. Then in 1999, a group of independent investors purchased Southern Belle.  In 2002, Southern Belle Dairy became Southern Belle Dairy Co., LLC, as a joint venture between Robert Allen Family Trust and Dairy Farmers of America (DFA).
